White, the Color of Wedding Dress

White, as the symbol of purity, seems to be the eternal color for wedding dress. But, surprisingly, history tells us something else. So, when and how did white become the favored color for wedding dress?

Before white wedding attire, people during meddle age would prefer bright and luxurious color for their wedding dress. Because effervescent colors symbolized the happiness of the bride.

The trend of white wedding attire was started by Queen Victoria. It was in 1840 when Queen Victoria married Prince Albert of Saxe. Wearing a white wedding gown, she brought a big, but pleasant surprise to everyone. While there were some who preferred vibrant colors, white definitely had seeped into the minds of people. Soon, brides from all over Europe and America began wearing white wedding dresses as well. By the end of the century, white had become the color of the wedding dress. Various trends and styles were adopted to make the dress a perfect bliss on the Day.

However, some changes happened latterly. During the Great Depression and World War II, the eternal white dress was replaced by the church dress. People thought that it was not appropriate to wear lavish dresses, when there was grief all around.

After the war ended, luxurious wedding dresses in white jumped back into the center stage. With time, shades of white, cream, off white or ivory became acceptable as wedding dress colors. Today brides’ dresses have adopted varied dressing styles. From the timeless white to the Hawaiian beach dress, the options are endless.

That strange dream

There’s something wrong with my computer again, and I am sent to use the third pal’s tool, I am a truly office stroller. OMG! Monday is always the worst day for a lazy girl. I am still my romantic dream.

In the dream, I am with a nice informal wedding dress, Nicho holds my hand and locks me with a ring, we both are blesses by the present people, an angel arrives and takes us on her back and then fly to a land for honeymoon.

That’s a quite land, there might be 3 or 4 couples are playing chase on beach. No sooner angel lands us on the beach than a dolphin swims over to us and takes us for surfing. On the other side of sea, sunset is smiling and a flock of sea-birds form a shape of heart. Sea-water wets out my informal wedding dress, which flies along with the sea-wind. Nicho is always tightly holding me; he kissed away my moving tears and promises me: Maggie, I will love you forever.

The night is also perfect, sitting in front of the round table, we order the most expensive meal-green vegetables, which has been the luxury since earth is totally polluted and the production is crazily decreased, while meat is now the cheapest. Nicho exclaims days I cooked for him 10 years ago. Every day after I worked off, I would immediately fly home, buying vegetables, cooking and waiting for him. We did not have enough money, let alone informal wedding dress, in the dream it has replaced formal dresses and is the most fashionable style. But we lived a happy life, but now, it will end, 2012 is coming.

“Maggie, wake up, we will be late!!!” A sound of shouting, I know it is from Nicho, that damn guy. Oh no, Monday is coming, it’s just Monday but not 2012. Oh, dream! Romance and after-fear! Which one is or will be true?
