Till now, I have had many different brand of wristwatch. However, the memory of a Breitling watch caused can never be rubbed away from my mind.
Back to the time when I was in middle school, wristwatch was something that only exists in our imagination. Then the time for us to take college entrance examination came and I need a watch to know the time so that I can know the time when I was taking the exam.
Couldn’t buy a watch ourselves, my parents decided to borrow one for me. As most people in our area did not have a watch that time, my parents turned to a rich person to borrow a watch for me. When they gave me the wristwatch, they repeated again and again, “Be careful. Do remember to keep the watch well.” As it is a Breitling watch, I certainly knew that why my parents said that. And I paid great attention to it from the moment it has been passed to me.
Then, I brought the borrowed Breitling watch to examination room and began the examination. All went on well for the first section. Then, during the second section of the examination, I suddenly found that the watch did not work any more. The pointer stood still there. All in a sudden, my mind turned to be blank. I didn’t know how the examination got to its end. All I could think about was the broken watch.
When I got home, I confessed the truth to my parents. My parents were shocked. However, with no other ideas, my parents could only apologize to the lender and see if he can be sympathy to us. Out of expectation, when we told the truth to him, he laughed loudly, “It wasn’t broken, just because you did not wind it.” He continued, “And, it is my fault that I didn’t tell you it is only a replica Breitling watch, not a genuine one. So, it doesn’t cost much.”
